About My FD
My FD are chartered accountants specialising in small business accounting services. We are members of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
We started out as a traditional accounting firm focused on high quality service. Then, in 2012, we decided that we wanted to offer small businesses something different: all the time-saving convenience of an online accounting service, with the personalised service of a dedicated accountant. My FD was launched.
What it means to be a CHARTERED accountancy firm
Unlike many other online accounting services, we are chartered.
To call yourself chartered accountants you must be a member of one of the Chartered Accountancy Institutes. We are a member of the ICAEW — The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Member firms must be headed up by an accountant who has a minimum of three years in-depth training, and has passed a series of rigorous examinations. (On top of that, ours has 30+ years of professional experience.)
We are subject to a strict code of ethics and are expected to work to the highest professional standards, complying with all relevant tax legislation.
That’s why we use the best available accounting software, allocate every My FD client their own accountant, and cap the number of clients each accountant has. This ensures that your accountant has the time to respond to your queries quickly, review your business regularly, and make sure that you’re optimizing your percentage return all year round.
If you, as a client have a complaint about our service, you can take it to the ICAEW who will investigate it on your behalf.
Meet your team
We’re all qualified accountants, with more than 30 years’ experience in accounting and tax legislation between us. We’re here to help.
AAT & Fellow of ICAEW
Will oversees the running of My FD and supports our team of accountants with day-to-day challenges and conundrums, helping them to provide you with the highest quality service. He’s been working with numbers since his teens when he made his pocket money helping his father – also a chartered accountant. Having completed his training in a medium-sized practice, Will moved on to work for larger international firms where he gained further senior-level experience in tax and audits before joining My FD in 2013. Today, besides enjoying the challenge of designing and maintaining a pain-free service, he’s kept on his toes by four young sons.
Head of Tax
ATT & Member of the CIOT
Adam oversees all technical tax-related matters at my FD. With over 30 years’ experience in tax, he has operated at partner or board level for the last 12 years. He and his team solve tax problems and attend to your tax planning. Everything from answering queries on IR35 or working overseas, to maximising your deductions, extracting profits tax efficiently and restructuring your company. Adam and his team are highly knowledgeable, enabling them to react quickly to the constant changes in tax legislation. A long-suffering Aston Villa fan, Adam listens to unpopular music and his tax-free time is filled by correcting his DIY mistakes.
Tony’s focus is our client relationships. He’s our middleman, making sure that our suppliers and our team have what they need to give you excellent service. Since he started out working in a small umbrella company 18 years ago, Tony has used his industry knowledge and sales experience to grow a number of umbrella companies. A director of an umbrella before joining our team, he really understands what being a UK small business involves, and how tax and accounting can become very stressful and time-consuming if people get the wrong advice or poor service. When not in the office, Tony enjoys a country walk with his camera.
MAAT & Studying towards CIOT
If David’s your accounts manager, you have more than a decade of accounts experience to draw on and can rely on his obsession with detail to give you the best possible advice and service. Having run his own accountancy practice, worked in accounts in both the retail and construction sectors, and been the director of an umbrella company that processed +8,000 payments a week, he has an excellent understanding of cashflow, invoicing, chasing clients and the seemingly endless paperwork involved with being a small business. A self-confessed computer geek, he enjoys a good Linux meet-up and modifying car engines. Just say “Calibra 2ltr Turbo” to see his eyes light up.
Your finances are in safe hands with Gordon. His meticulous attention to detail ensures monthly statements, VAT returns and accounts are all impeccable. With more than a decade’s experience, Gordon joined us from a local family-run firm of accountants but gained his initial experience in one of the UK’s largest accountancy firms. Besides the satisfaction he gets from solving financial problems, Gordon was drawn to working with small businesses specifically because of the diversity of people he gets to deal with daily. He balances the methodical care required by his day job with creativity and adrenalin provided in the forms of photography and motorsport.
MAAT & studying towards ACCA
Kimberley enjoys getting to know her clients, ensuring she’s always available to answer queries and make useful suggestions. Her initial business experience was gained managing a children’s entertainment centre for 6 years, where she decided the part she enjoyed most was the accounts. Shifting her focus to accountancy, she spent a further half dozen years in an accounting firm where she became a senior accountant with responsibility for operations. This experience she puts to good use, implementing new systems to improve our efficiency. When not exercising her mind solving client challenges, Kimberly walks, cycles and swims to stay fit.
FMAAT & studying towards ACCA
According to Toni, accountancy “fell into her lap” when in 2003, she got the chance to do an apprenticeship at a small practice that provided study support for the AAT qualification. It turned out the profession suited her dedication to thoroughness, and she moved on to join a medial accountancy practice and then to focus on small business accounting in 2013. During this time she was also involved in developing a bespoke software program for weekly bookkeeping and credit control. If you have Toni as your accounts manager, she’ll do everything she can to show you how a good accountant can save you money through careful planning.

Paul makes it possible for us to provide our clients with the best possible service. Combining his accounting experience and his organisational and communication skills, he supports the account managers as and when needed. He’s worked with numbers since 1994 when he got his first temporary assignment at a firm of chartered accountants. Since then he’s worked on accounts in a variety of sectors, most recently in the dairy industry. An accountant by day, Paul is a rocker by night. He’s been performing in live and cover bands for as long as he’s been doing accountancy and regularly does gigs all over the country.

Financial jargon is something you won’t get working with Simon. Straight-talking and practical he supports our clients with limited companies as well as those using My Umbrella. He’s been working exclusively in small business accounting since 2012, before which he racked up a diversity of experience in a traditional accountancy practice and as part of in-house finance teams. Over the years he’s worked with clients from sole traders to LLPs. When time allows, Simon’s a man of action, a keen follower and participator in sports, ranging from golf to football to mountain biking.
